In the Fall of 1994, I called Liberty House, a store on Manhattan's Upper West Side that specialized in selling handmade gifts, clothes, and accessories for women. It was my first time approaching a store to sell my work, and I chose Liberty House because it was a store whose windows I'd peered in everyday after school.
Hollie was the manager and owner of Liberty House, and she was so gracious to me - Hollie placed, over 10 years ago, a wholesale order that I would still consider huge today, and from that the seeds of The Weekend Store were sown. Although the original Liberty House is no longer there (you can visit their sister store on 112th & Broadway), I will never forget Hollie, her beautiful storefront, her welcoming staff, or that first order that gave me the confidence to continue to pursue my business. Thanks so much, Hollie!
