Eartha Kitt was a multi-talente American actress, singer, dancer and author. Born in South Carolina to sharecroppers, Kitt's distinctive singing style and roles as Catwoman in the 1960s Batman series and in the Broadway musical Timbuktu! made her a star in the 1950s and 1960s. She's also known for her 1953 hit "Santa Baby" and for refusing to perform for segregated audiences.
